Project: Bloom

These are pages from my sketchbook for my current project, Bloom.  Here I researched both artist and fashion designers who use floral images and prints in their work, my favourite being Mary Katrantzou’s Spring 2014 RWT collection.  I also looked at fashion magazines and carried out a small shop report analysing how floral prints are translated for high street garments.

A2 still life observational drawing using watercolours.

Project: Bloom

These pages from my sketchbook consist of different observational drawing techniques, also for my current project: Bloom.  Here I have experimented with fine liner, pencil and ink and carried out drawing techniques such as blind drawing, continuous line, left hand drawing and drawing within a 15cm x 15cm square.

These are A2 development sheets for my current project.  I used a combination of media consisting of tracing paper, acetate, watercolours, tissue paper and coloured pencil.

These are A2 development sheets for my current project.  On the right  I experimented with a pencil drawing with collage from another drawing layered on top.  On the left I started the work out how my print would work on a garment.

Project: Bloom

My final outcome for this project was to create a print that could be used on fashion garments.  The particular print combines media such as tracing paper, watercolour, fine liner and pencil.  A2 size.

This is my second A2 print design for my final outcome which combines media such as tracing paper, fine liner, watercolour and pencil.

A3 observational drawing in pencil of a bag which had a tribal inspired print.

Project: Tribe

A2 development pages from Tribe.  For this project I researched into the Guatemalan tribe and used to create a series of prints which were inspired by this tribe.  These development pages show how I would then translate those prints onto garments.

Project: Tribe

Final line - up for Tribe.  This shows how I would translate my prints onto garments for a collection.  A2 size.

Project: Tribe

These are my final print designs inspired by the Guatemalan tribe.  I first developed an image on Photoshop and then printed it using  a fabric printer.  I also added small details of embellishment and embroidery to highlight certain parts of the design.

Project: Collars and Cuffs

These are a series of observational drawing mainly focusing on small areas of the objects.  Media used includes fine liner, pencil, coloured pencil and collage.

Project: Collars and Cuffs

This project focused mainly on both embroidery and embellishment and these pages show my exploration into different techniques.  The final outcome for this project was to create a collar and my initial design is shown on this page.
