2nd Year Project - Dries Van Noten

Here is a selection of my work from my final second year design project.  We were given a high end designer which we had to research into and then use this to design a new collection for SS17.  I was given Dries Van Noten as my designer which I really enjoyed as I love his boldness and creativity and thought it was a really fun and interesting brand to design for.

These are my initial research pages including trend research, customer profile and fabric direction.

From this I began to work on designing each product group towards this trend and with my chosen fabric direction in mind.  Throughout my work I like to use a mixture of both  CAD and hand drawn designs.  Below I have included a selection of my designs from each product category.

Outerwear:

Tops:

Trousers:

I also experimented with different embroidery techniques as this is something Dries Van Noten uses quite frequently in his work.

Once I was done with the design process I then went onto illustrate the collection - for this I experimented with both CAD and hand drawn techniques to see which outcome I preferred.

Here are my finished illustrations with an overview of the final collection.

University of Leeds - Menswear Design Development (Work in Progress)

Current Menswear Design Project: Creating a collection inspired by a sport, I've chose fishing.

Colour Palette, Inspiration page and Trend Board all created using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.

Colour Board I created as part of my final trend.  As you can see it has been heavily inspired by the 1970's not only in the colour scheme but also in the shapes and silhouettes.
